About Jeri Felix
“What excites me is color and paint and the surprises that happen in the process…Standing before a blank canvas surrounded by my tools and colors, I begin to journey…Once begun, it’s as though a great mystical being flows through me onto canvas. Gliding along the fine thread of awareness between control and reckless abandon, I never feel alone while painting,”
Jeri was a truly creative soul and explored several media in her prolific artwork. Jeri attended Westbrook Junior College of Portland, Maine and graduated from The University of CT, with a BFA in Textile Arts. She went on to earn her MFA in Fine Arts from The University of Cincinnati, where she also taught undergraduate painting and drawing. Jeri loved to travel from her home in Iowa to New Mexico, staying for months at a time there, immersing herself, making art while camping on Sante Fe Mountain. Her work has been in numerous shows around the U.S. including New York City, Sante Fe, New Mexico.
Jeri’s siblings, the trustees of her estate have graciously contributed her work and inspiration to this project.
